I welcome the ability to search tunes by composer, metre etc; great. But do I have to load an independently acquired library of hymn tunes and link them somehow before I can play/hear them. (I appreciate that those with a file attached have a modified tune symbol alongside the title but I can't see any such in my list). I seem to remember in the dim and distant past when I bought Vislit1 that I could play some (albeit rather tinny) tunes. Now I can't find a single tune with a midifile attached. Can anyone advise please? Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi - yes I agree with you, but whether it was VL!, 2 or 3 I can't temember. It looks like I need to go through all the old disks floppy and CD and see what is there.

For the tunes which can be provided, it would REALLY help those of us who can sing, but for whom reading music is a foreign language

Yes, when will the midifiles be available?

I know someone who has created many hundreds of midifile hymn and song tunes - please contact me if you'd like to know more!

Paul,

Yes please; but having said that, I don't want to be tempted into a long exercise of linking individual midifiles to tune icons etc, etc.

It would seem from the number of views to this thread that we are not alone. I would be mightily encouraged if Vislit made a response. Here's hoping!

Many thanks,

David Bowen

I am also puzzled about tunes.
I appear to have at least one tune.
Camberwell by Brierley, Michael © None, 6 5 6 5 D, MIDI file present
When I click on the Play button all I get is
"Unable to play the MIDI tune."

What is going on here ?

Where is there a supply of MIDI tunes ?

I posted a reply to Paul saying that I was interested too.

One thing I discovered was that these was a VL3 module provided, but it needs VL3 loaded to install. I don't know if it can be loaded on a VL3 system and the files extracted and loaded in VLL, or if some has the separate files, or even if they will work.

As a non-playing, can't read music, but can sing reader in training, having even just the simple tune available to remind one helps, especially if one is going to need to lead the singing when there is no organist. Having a run through in one's home first to memorize things.

John.

I have copy of Visual Liturgy 3 installed -- the Midi files play OK.

We are working on an upgrade and module for the midi side of things (thanks mostly to VL user Peter Furber). Watch this space.
