I'd be grateful if somone could tell me how to get VL to generate NRSV readings that don't include the verse numbers. I can see how get it to produce the readings as 'block text', but not how to generate verse-number-free readings. Any thoughts?

It's all about stylesheets.

In your service, go to the service properties and click on "styles". That will show you which stylesheets are used for which of the views in the service.

Once you know which stylesheet you need to amend, from the main VL menu, click on "Edit" and then "Styles" to open the stylesheet editor.

Click on the open button and then open the relevant stylesheet.

Once the stylesheet is open, click on the drop down box called "style name". This will show you a list of all the styles within the stylesheet. You need to look for ".vlversenumber"

Once you have chosen it, you will see another drop down box on the right, called "display". This has two values, blank or "none". Change the value to "none" and that will mean that no verse numbers are displayed in the views associated with that stylesheet.

Click on "save" and then close the stylesheet editor. And that should do the trick!

(One additional hint. I've taken the decision to leave all the default stylesheets as they are. Instead, I have set up my own stylesheets that are then used in all my services. This means that I can get the look I want, but still know that if all else fails I will still have the "factory" stylesheets on hand.)
