CHP is about to begin a release programme of several Visual Liturgy Live update modules, which will enhance your copy of Visual Liturgy Live with new content, and which will also include some corrections to existing content.

Precise details of each module's contents will be published on these news pages and in you VL Live news feed as each one is released, but we can tell you that the new content will include the remaining Times and Seasons elements, service outlines, and worked-out services, (together with corrections to some previously-published content from that book), as well as updates to VL Live's music content.

We will also be bringing some new life to the VL Live website and forums as we invite you to give us feedback on the new content releases and help us prioritise content and updates. We have chosen to break the new content down into several small updates to make the new material more manageable, and we're currently checking the editorial work that we've been doing over the summer.

The first of them will be released in the next few days, and your VL Live news feed will tell you exactly what's in it, and how to download it, as well as how to set your copy of VL Live to collect it (and future updates) automatically.

With best wishes,
Andrew and the VL Live team at Church House Publishing

Andrew,

In May you wrote this:
Year 1 subscriptions will all run until at least All Saints’ Day (Saturday 1st November) 2008.

This was on the basis that
"The publishing programme for Common Worship: Times and Seasons will be completed during Year 1, before 1st November 2008.

The Year 1 publishing programme will also include
* Some improvements and additions to Daily Prayer content and smart templates
* Some new seasonal and occasional templates"

As it now looks very likely that it will be well past 1st Nov before this is achieved, can you confirm the following:

a) That those of us who subscribed well before 01/11/07 (in my case - 16/05/07) will still get the full amount of updates as outlined above without needing to resubscribe.

b) When should people like myself re-subscribe? In other words - at what point will the "Year 1 publishing programme" be complete? And how will we know?

Can't help but agree with Mr Chillman. We have stuck with VL Live expecting updates over the summer and are very disappointed. This is the second year running that Times and Seasons for Advent has not been available in time for service preparation (and my post at the time was never replied to!)

It's not only me, then? In which case, here, here!! When I check for updates, I now find that I have "no active subscription", but neither have I received the promised additional content, nor have I received any sort of subscription reminder. Whilst I realise that patience is a virtue....................

Can I echo those who have written about the end of the subscription?  At the CRE in May 2008, I enquired about the renewal date and was told that it would be valid until the planned updates with regard to Times and Seasons were issued.  I see from the website that my subscription has expired and still no updates.  Will our subscriptions be valid for a further period? some information would be welcome as I am not now sure whether I will receive the long waited upgrades automatically. I have also been waiting to upgrade to a team licence  so that my colleague reader and the Parish Office can benefit and at the moment am rather in the dark.

Further to my earlier posting, I note from the Visual Liturgy website:

  • Year 1 subscriptions will all run until at least All Saints’ Day (Saturday 1st November) 2008.
  • All VL Live users who bought and installed their copies of VL Live before 1st November 2007 will therefore have their subscriptions extended free-of-charge until 1st November 2008
  • All VL Live users who bought and installed their copies of VL Live after 1st November will have their Year 1 subscriptions until 1 year after the date they registered their software.
  • The publishing programme for Common Worship: Times and Seasons will be completed during Year 1, before 1st November 2008.

The Year 1 publishing programme will also include

  • Some improvements and additions to Daily Prayer content and smart templates
  • Some new seasonal and occasional templates ;

November 1st has gone and past and it would be good to have some helpful comment on what is the state of play and whether subscriptions purchased earlier will be honoured.  Hopefully some one at Visual Liturgy will be able to reply soon.

Likewise, it is very frustrating currently (and has been for a long time!!!).

When will the updates be available, and will we be able to get them without paying a further subsctiption having had nothing for our money over the last year?

An email from Andrew Sweeney on a unrelated matter does seem to suggest that all of us who are waiting will have our Year 1 subscriptions honoured and that we will get the latest updates without having to pay and that we will be notified when the Year 1 programme is complete.
