Some complaints and a response....

It seems that there is no information(about renewing subscriptions (ed.)) on the VL Live website.

The only telephone number 0207 898 1451 option 3 for VL technical support can't help, because they don't know. They said they are getting an creasing number of calls.

Ringing the same number and using option 1, to get to Church House Publishing, gets you to SCM press in Norwich. Option 5 to the CHP department there. They will give you the the number above and say to use option 3, so you are back where you started.

The website seems to only offer FULL or UPGRADE options, and on;y mentions renewal once. The UPDATE option takes you to the page where you can purchase VL LIVE if you have version 4, but no mention of renewing a subscription.

The subscrition management page, tells me my subscription has expired, gives options to upgrade a team subscription, but no link to simply renew my expired subscription.

Oh I am so sad. This looked like a good idea, but seeing the lack of what is needed and the complaints and grumbles of other VL LIVE users about lack of receipts, new content and the like, leads me to wonder if as is so often the case, much is promised, nut little actually delivered.

Come on CHP and VL creators! Get your act together and give your customers what they need. Or are you like so many it seems no longer interested in the product?

Just a reply to this, an e-mail, a website update, any of these would help. Silence (rarely heard in CofE services) seems to be all we get. Until I get form of response, my money stays in my pocket.

I have great sympathy with "Disappointed of Great Hormead". I too have tried all the options and failed miserably!

I did succeed in getting the phone number (direct line) of Andrew Sweeney who is supposed to be the person with all the answers. The only answer I've had so far is his voice mail. Perhaps others will fare better.

If so please let me know. His number is 020 7898 1582

Dear Disappointed, and other VL Live users,

VL Live Subscriptions are not available for renewal yet, for exactly the reasons you outline below. We recognise that we are late delivering our Year 1 publishing programme, and we would not dream of asking anyone to subscribe to VL Live until we have demonstrated that we can deliver valuable, new content. As our announcements of 18th October and 21st May explained, we have decided to extend Year 1 subscriptions until the Year 1 publishing programme is complete, and we have never asked for subscription fees to fund this.

Our business model has always been to include the subscription in the 1st-year price, which has changed very little over the years, to give you the option of upgrading to a subscription if you choose, or to continue to use software that has served well for many years at the level that suits you. We then hope that our publishing programme will be attractive enough to persuade customers to subscribe, but your software and all the content you have to date is yours for ever, and will function without a subscription.

It is of course difficult to balance priorities when publishing books and other resources for such a wide-ranging and demanding audience doing the difficult work that you all have to do in your parishes. I know that many of you have worked very hard over the years through synods, DLCs and so on, to make sure that CHP is the well-resourced publishing house that you need to equip you in your vital work, and we appreciate all your support.

Having said that, we are today checking and testing the first update module for VL Live, as we said we would. It will contain many enhancements, particularly featuring new Times and Seasons material. Please watch this space for announcements about the upcoming releases.

Meanwhile, how can I re-install VL on my new computer?

When I try to register, it tells me that my licence has expired, so presumably I have only 60 days and will then find I have to reinstall again?

I can't see a way round this.

I have the same problem.
I have no desire to renew my license but want to continue using what I've got.
